The 2024 BET Awards were held in Los Angeles last night, hosted by Taraji P. Henson. The ceremony opened with an electrifying performance from Megan Thee Stallion, followed by Henson’s own take on Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” Tyla received the first award of the evening for best international act, and later took home best new artist as well. Usher accepted both the lifetime achievement award and best male R&B/pop artist, while SZA won best female R&B/pop artist. Killer Mike took home the album of the year award for “Michael.” Monét received the BET Her award and also won video of the year for “On My Mama.” Performance highlights included Lauryn Hill with surprise guest Wyclef Jean, and an all-star tribute to Usher featuring Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, Marsha Ambrosious, Chlöe, Tinashe, and Latto.
